At It Again

Well, I took a few days off from scrapping....but not for long. I've been at it again.....working on some fun blog challenges and lots of DT work to be revealed on Tuesday. Thought I would share a few that I can.

Did this one for the song title challenge over at The Design Experiment....if you haven't checked out their blog challenges yet, I encourage you to do so.....this is the third one I've participated in and have found each one to be so inspiring.

Every New Beginning

And I managed to complete every challenge so far this month at Sisterhood of Scrap (hmm......d'ya think I might want to win that CMK kit). This week's challenge was to use a favorite TV show or movie as inspiration for a layout. I used one of my favorite shows as a kid....never missed an episode of Family Ties.

Family Ties

This week's song at Scrapping the Music was a jazz instrumental by Duke Ellington called Sentimental Mood. As soon as I heard I knew exactly what I would scrap- a photo of my grandparents. So this was entry for this week...

Sentimental Mood
(hidden journaling talks about how I wished I had known them longer)

And last one for now is for the Coconut Scrap Showdown. This week's challenge was to be creative....use a new technique or come up with a new use for a product. I struggled all week with what to do for this one.....and I happened upon it by chance. I was working on this western layout and I accidentally got some glue on it in a place I didn't want it. I went to erase it with a gum eraser and the paper started smudging off leaving it with a worn rawhide look. So I went with it. I also used an old piece of corduroy I roughened up by scraping it on the sidewalk as a photo corner. I used some old twine from a tag to make the lasso. And as I was sifting through my stash I came upon this set of chipboard that has diamonds, hearts, spades, and clubs...like on a deck of cards...and the clubs to me looked like small trees.....so there you have it for my new technique and new use of product.

Oklahoma Rising

Well, now I'm off for another scrappy day.....lots more to work on......happy scrapping to you and thanks for stopping by!

Colorstory

Well, I am so happy I found the time to complete the Colorstory challenge this month......it was ultra inspiring. I had lots of fun with Glimmer Mist on this one.....using a paper lace placement as a mask to enhance my background paper...I even have an actual piece of the placement on the far right of my layout....I also had fun painting my chipboard letters teal and then sponging over them with vintage white.....and check out these cool teal butterflies I picked up at the Coconut ScrapShop.....I'm very pleased with this one and enjoyed doing it.

Perfect Day

Now here's hoping it will kick start my mojo.....so I can start on some DT work tomorrow.....good night.

26, 3, 1

Wow.....amazing how much scrapping one can get done during summer vacation.....that's right, so far in June I've done 26 layouts, 3 cards, and 1 mini book. And I still have a full week of scrapping ahead of me.....at least I know to enjoy it now because come August it will go back to limited scrapping.

Here are a few new layouts in the past few days. Did this first one for the Design Experiment blog challenge to scrap your moods for a week.

Lowkey

Completed this one for the second challenge in the Coconut Scrapshop Showdown....challenge was to scrap a layout about ourself using pink and bling.

How You See Me

And lastly, I did this two pager for a monthly challenge Marcie issued at 2 Croppin' Cousinz- the challenge was to use ribbon or felt across the length of both pages.

Cool Skies

Hoping to get my scrap groove on tonight and start digging into some kits I have to work with...until next time.

I *heart* Cosmo Cricket!

Yep....that's right...I can't not throw my hat in the ring for the DT call Cosmo Cricket has going on. I have loved Cosmo from the moment they debuted....from the Wanted line.....to Gretel.....Cogsmo......Hello Sunshine (which btw, if you haven't gotten any of this yet, you need to get your hands on some...it is heavenly).....and everything in between. Who wouldn't want to design with their awesome products?
As I started looking through all of my previous work, I realized I had alot using CC products...and I was lucky that Cosmo Cricket was our spotlight manufacturer at ScrapLovers this month.....so now I have even more CC layouts completed. So without further ado, here are some projects I would like to highlight....the first 4 of them are the layouts I completed for ScrapLovers.

Once Upon A Time (using the Fleuriste line)

This one has some shine to it IRL....I used Glimmer Mist and Stickles on the crown....I also used a lace doily as a template and sprayed Glimmer Mist over it.....you can very subtly see the pattern in the top left of the layout. Other techniques I've used are machine stitching and I punched holes around the word Family to enhance the look of the preprinted stitches.

Earth to Jose (featuring the Cogsmo line)

This one was just plain fun to do.....the little blackboard robot reminded me of a space creature which inspired my title.....and I used the gears to tie in with the "thinking chair" theme (picture the wheels in the brain turning). This also features a small section of one of the new Maya Road sheer sheets.

Warning: Fun Overload (featuring Get Happy and Cogsmo)

This one features hand stitching and I colored the blackboard robot using Cray-Pas.

Shiny Happy People (featuring the Hello Sunshine line)

I was immediately inspired for this layout as soon as I saw the clouds on one of the journaling cards that comes with this line. I doodled the sun's "rays" using a Doodle Genie by Chatterbox.

The remaining projects are all work I've done within the last year or so...and believe it or not I had more, but decided enough was enough.

Joy to the World card (with handmade felt birds)

Believe in Santa

06 in Rewind (using my favorite Cosmo line of all time.....although Hello Sunshine is a close second)

That Motherhood Glow (using a Becky Fleck sketch)

This layout was published in the Scrapbook Trends Fast and Fabulous idea book.

Visions of Sugarplums

Home Sweet Home altered picketfence (fence purchased from Hobby Lobby)

As always thanks for stopping by to look...and happy scrapping!!!

Inspire Me Inspire You

So I stumbled upon this new challenge blog this morning called Inspire Me Inspire you....check out the link in my sidebar. Anyways the challenge is to find something in your house or environment and use it as inspiration for a layout. So as I was getting dressed, I realized this belt is an awesome color combination......

and it sparked this layout.......PIECE OF MY HEART.

And on a belated note, I got inspired to make hubby this cute little mini book for Fathers' Day....

Your Heart Is My Home

The pocket on the back cover holds a picture Jose drew of him and daddy.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!!!

I've joined the Sisterhood

I'm excited to say I'm the Sister of the Week over at Sisterhood of Scrap........come check it out! Here is my layout for this week's challenge...

Artist in You

(the black in the star is glitter so this one sparkles in real life)

And of course yesterday was the 15th so I have some new DT reveals and challenges I uploaded.

Here is a layout and altered notebook using Treasured Scrapbooking's June Kit 1.....lots of yummy stuff in the kit this month.

Dogs Days journal

Always a Star in My Book

At ScrapLovers, I issued a sketch challenge based on this layout I did of my hubby.....

For Keeps

My challenge at 2 Croppin' Cousinz this month is to use the color combo of orange, teal, and yellow...I'm really loving these colors lately.

Lazy Hazy Crazy Days of Summer

And I'm still enjoying blog hopping......did these two for last week's challenges at The Design Experiment and Sisterhood of Scrap.

In General (challenge was to scrap words you use often)

Can't Wait (challenge was to use a blue/red color scheme)

And lastly, don't forget to check out this Guest Sweetheart call at ScrapLovers....deadline is this Friday..and we would love to see your entry!!

Till next time!!! Happy scrapping!!

Busy Little Scrapper

That's right...I've been one busy little scrapper this past week...staying up till odd hours of the morning...and then getting back up to scrap some more....and I'm loving it......haven't had this much mojo flowin' in awhile......I'm certainly enjoying my summer to say the least.

I finished the remaining challenges in the Addicted Scrappers DT call contest......should hear the results soon (maybe even today). We had to turn a one page sketch courtesy of the Sketch It Out blog into a two page layout. Here's my interpretation....

Rock the Hawk

Next, we had to scrap about our daily routine......here's what I came up with.

There is no ROUTINE

And lastly, we had to make a coordinating set of cards (I am so not a card maker)...but here is my love set

I'm participating in the Coconut Showdown at the Coconut ScrapShop....here is my layout for Round 1....we had to use a stamping/grid technique....it's definitely way more simple than my usual style....but I kind of like it....looks much better IRL...

Dare

And I've been having lots of fun playing along in some blog challenges that I never get to during the school year.

And I Think To Myself (for Dreamgirls and Scrapping the Music)

Serenity (for Scrapjacked)

One Moment in Time (for One Little Word)

And lastly, a fun little layout I did for a photo swap over at Treasured Scrapbooking...I got to switch with fellow DT member Julie and scrap a photo of her darling granddaughter.

Lil' Fish

I'll have lots more to share after tomorrow......after all of the 15th DT reveals.....until then, happy scrapping and Happy Father's Day weekend!!

My Constant

Well, obviously one of the constants in my life is scrapping....here are a few layouts I've managed to scrap in the past few days.

This one was for the challenge over at The Design Experiment blog.....to do a layout about a constant in your life....I was so inspired I managed to finish this layout in about 30 minutes.

My Constant

I also found time to participate in the Sisterhood of Scrap blog challenge this past week- to use one of their sketches. Photos are of my parent's wedding.

I Thee Wed

These next two layouts I did as part of the DT call contest I'm in over at Addicted Scrappers. The first challenge was to do a layout all in brown. I tried a photo technique I saw in an old magazine.....layering the photo to make a portion of it stand out in color...I tried to make it look like mud splats.

No Mud About It

And the next challenge was to scrap a 6x12 layout...my first....I actually turned this one into a wall hanging I have up in my scraproom.

The Road Not Taken

And one I did a few weeks ago with this year's Mother's Day photos....just because.

My Darling

And don't forget the Guest Sweetheart call going on at ScrapLovers (see my previous post)....would love to see some of you enter.....and we also have the August GDT call going on at Treasured Scrapbooking....check out the details here.

Thanks for stopping by...and hope you had a great weekend!!

Cybercrops, chats, and layouts too!

I want to start this post with Treasured Scrapbooking....Treasured Scrapbooking was down for five days due to server issues. The good news is that the site is back up and running. The bad news is that everything has been reset to the last available back up from December, 2007. If you registered after that point, you will need to register again. Leslie is devastated by all of this and is working very hard to get everything reorganized. In the meantime, we have a new BLOG to keep members updated in addition to the forums. And if you are wanting to order one of the AWESOME June kits, please send Leslie an email at Leslie.Hammill@comcast.net.

And here are 2 layouts I made using the June kits.

A Cherry On Top (using Kit 2)

You're Doggone Awesome (using Kit 1)

Over at Scrap4Life we are having the "It's A Surprise" Cybercrop this weekend......challenges will be issued at midnight tonight and run through Sunday.......come over and play along if you have time. And check out the yummy Prima packed kit this month....

And don't forget the yummy Island kits on sale
